Privacy Policy
This policy explains what StudyMate AI stores and how it is used. Review it alongside your institution's own data policies before uploading course materials.
Information we store
- Account details: email address, display name and authentication identifiers.
- Academic profile: institution, programme, academic level and study goals you enter during onboarding.
- Course content: courses you create, files you upload and the text extracted from them.
- AI conversations: your prompts, generated responses and any feedback you give.
- Usage records: counts of AI requests, used to apply fair-use limits.
How your data is used
Your materials are used to ground AI answers in your own course content, to generate study resources you request, and to display your workspace back to you. Data is scoped to your account by database access rules; other users cannot read it.
AI processing
Prompts, and relevant excerpts of your uploaded materials, are sent to a third-party model provider to generate responses. Only the excerpts needed to answer a question are transmitted. Do not upload material you are not permitted to share, including confidential or personally sensitive documents belonging to other people.
Storage and retention
Files are stored in private storage accessible only to your account. Content is kept until you delete it. Deleting a course removes its materials, conversations and generated resources.
Your choices
- Delete individual materials, conversations or resources at any time.
- Update or clear your academic profile from Settings.
- Request account deletion via the contact address published on this site.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published on this page.
